Vinyes Singular

Ignasi Segui was born into a family of farmers who have owned and cultivated land – the estate of Cal Batlle – since 1405 in the Penedes region. Cal Batlle extends over an area of 120 hectares which are ecologically farmed with olive trees, almond trees, cereal crops, and vegetables. Twenty hectares are devoted to vines which are certified organic. The vines are around sixty years old and are made up of grape varieties typical of the region: Macabeo, Xarello, Parelleda, Garnacha blanca, Sumoll and Malvasia de Sitges. In 2012, Ignasi took over the estate and focused on maintaining the soil and respecting the environment. Its goal is to make wine by letting the unique terroir express itself and by favouring single-varietal work.
